some designers just don't get it

ok, this is a design concept, but still... this steam iron concept by nico klaeber was designed for the male user, which is why it looks stealth, is all edgy and black. Are male hands any different than female hands ? Have all male turned into cyborgs with robotic hands ? I like concepts for challenging paradigms, but sometimes some ideas are just out of whack.

  1. Darth Vader turns into an iron as all Star War episodes and remakes are done!!!

I'd like to also add that how often do we see
    - men ironing?
    - men investing money in buying a household appliance like an iron for style? In fact, does any consumer buy an iron for style over function? AN iron would be considered a ;low involvement' product wouldn't it?
    - male hands are different from female hands - of course coarser and probably bigger.

  2. i like to challenge that. i think style or design for such products is a factor in the purchase decision. men would be looking more at price/performance while woman more at weight/performance on top of the design.

  3. And I'd like to challenge that too. Because when it is related to low involvement products like irons, juicers, mixers etc style matters less than price/weight/performance. A coffee machine on the other hand would have an edge because of its form factor and brand (think Krupps, DeLonghi and Nespresso). PJ
