Design Thinking...

and related to what I was saying yesterday. Design Thinking is new and exciting because we're bored with Management Thinking, Marketing Thinking, Sales Thinking so this is the new word everyone wants to get access to...'Design Thinking' is about being able to use a designers/ creatives mental process of problem solving to solve problems other than designing products and services like for instance applying it to a flood emergency situation or for instance. So I like what this article says about 'Hybrid Design'...' Except I think they should have called it 'Hybrid Thinking' :-)

  1. whoah... this is something that drives me up the wall - 'design thinking'. It reminds me of the time when manicurists started to call themselfs 'nail designers', because to add 'design' in whatever form or expression meant it was more advanced, innovative, cooler or hipper. it's something new to discuss about in blogs and elsewhere and nothing else.AJ

  2. Nail Designer...interesting! Doesn't that though refer to a new art form where Japanese 'nail-istas' were drawing one of a kind designs on nails? Maybe Design Thinking is more like when I was a kid in the 70s when Disoc ruled and everything was called 'Disco' something...from Disco matches to Disco Papaya to a Bollywood song called Disco Station. Check it out...ridiculousness beats ridiculousness in this song, and perhaps Design Thinking is going the same way? PJ

  3. design means creating something. it is a process of thought and experimentation to come up with a solution that is better than an existing one or even an entirely new paradigm. i just don't think it can be easily transferred to minds that apply logic, math and common sense to come up with results.
